Heather Pritt- CPC Student Therapist

Heather believes therapy should be a place where you don’t have to edit your story before you tell it. She values authenticity, honesty, and connection and strives to create an environment where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. Rather than approaching therapy with a one-size-fits-all solution, Heather takes time to understand each person’s experiences, strengths, relationships, and the circumstances that have shaped who they are.

Heather works with adolescents, adults, parents, and families navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, women’s issues, and personal growth. She welcomes and affirms members of the LGBTQ+ community and is committed to providing respectful, compassionate care to clients of diverse backgrounds and identities.

Heather is especially passionate about working with adolescents and the parents who are trying to support them. The teenage years can bring changes in identity, confidence, emotions, friendships, family relationships, and communication. Heather helps adolescents better understand themselves, build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and communicate more openly. She also works with parents who may feel overwhelmed, disconnected from their child, or unsure of how to help, supporting them in strengthening communication, understanding their adolescent’s needs, and building a healthier parent-child relationship.

Heather also enjoys supporting women through the many transitions and expectations that can accompany different stages of life, including identity, relationships, motherhood, changing family roles, and personal growth. She recognizes that it is possible to care deeply for the people around you while also feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of what you need for yourself.

Her approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, drawing on person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and strengths-based approaches. Heather believes clients are the experts on their own lives. Her role is to listen with curiosity, help clients recognize patterns and strengths, offer new perspectives, and develop tools they can carry with them beyond the therapy room. She believes therapy is not about “fixing” someone, but about helping people better understand themselves and feel more confident navigating their lives and relationships.

Before entering the counseling field, Heather spent many years working with children and adolescents as an educator and teen life coach. She is also a mother of three adult children and has experienced the unique transitions and challenges that can come with military family life, parenting, and postpartum depression. These personal and professional experiences have strengthened her appreciation for how much can be happening beneath the surface of someone’s life. While every person’s experience is different, Heather brings compassion, openness, and genuine curiosity to each client’s individual story.

She views the beginning of therapy as an opportunity to get to know the person beyond what brought them through the door to understand their story, what matters to them, and what they hope might be different. From there, Heather works alongside clients to build on their strengths, develop meaningful skills, and create changes that feel authentic and sustainable in their everyday lives.
